Clinton, Nancy “Louise” Wilson Naylor, 90, of 2760 Church Road, passed away Friday, November 18, 2022 at The Landings of Smithfield. John Thomas Barefoot, age 90, of Clinton passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC following a brief illness. John was born June 27, 1932 in Moultrie, GA and was the son of John Wreston and Margaret Fisher Barefoot. John’s family relocated from Georgia to Southeastern North Carolina when he was a young boy and he has resided in Sampson County since that time. We are sad to announce that on December 10, 2022 we had to say goodbye to Betty Lou McCoy of Clinton, North Carolina, born in Marietta, Ohio. Fulton, born April 17, 1943 in Sampson County, was the son of the late James Paul Spell and Repsie Lane Spell. He worked at Lundy Packing Company and Martin Meats and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. Sonny, born April 26, 1952 in Pitt County, was the son of the late Milton Lee Dixon, Sr. and Sarah Averette Dixon Shine and step-father Clement Richardson Shine.

James was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church and a member of the Midway Class of 1962. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings William Ollen Royal, Lou Alice Fann and Jackie Hairr. He was the son of the late William Franklin Hobbs and Evelyn Faye Hope Hobbs. He was a truck driver for Foodlion for over 28 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Hobbs. Paul was born May 25, 1937 in Sampson County to the late Jonah Bradshaw and Cannie Bell Shipp Bradshaw. He retired from Carolina Power & Light as an accountant.

Clinton, Irene Gainey Darden, 94, of 504 Underwood St., passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at her home. Funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Piney Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ferrell Miller and Rev. Robert Beasley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral service at the church and at other times at the home.
